Silent choir     Penshurst Public Primary School, NSW, Australia, has an amazing silent choir who perform sign language to music. The school has 3 classes of hearing impaired children who use the hand gestures to communicate.

Go to School in pyjamas.  Students at Minto Public School, NSW Australia came in their PJ's for a reading morning.  The idea was to show that reading can be fun and something not just done at school.  Over 100 students were enrolled in the Premier's Reading Challenge - a NSW Government initiative where children are given awards for reading.  More information including booklists and sponsors can be found at Premier's Reading Challenge

Danebank Anglican School, Hurstville, NSW Australia has a new scholarship.  The school which has run classes for children with learning difficulties since 1979 will offer the scholarship for it's Life Skills program for girls from year 7 to year 12.  For more details call 02 9580 141

A group of Arizona High School students are helping to rebuild a school in Northern Uganda. They have joined the Schools for Schools program for invisible children to raise $10,000.00 US.
The students have been collecting donations before school and during lunch, selling T shirts and requesting donations from businesses.

Animals at school

Ballina High School, in NSW Australia, is one of many schools that have animals at school.  Their Marine Discovery Centre has fish and yabbies. The students record their growth and other facts.

City to Surf

The annual 14km Sydney race attracted over 75,000 runners last year.  Some of the schools winning or placing in the past were Hunter Sports high School, Westfield Sports High, Hornsby Girl's High and Marcellin College.

Division 3 is School Teams of 3 or more.
All team members must be from same school.  Some of the other catagories are:

  • Mixed Primary - Boys & Girls aged 12 or under,
  • Boys aged 12 or under - Primary School,
  •  Girls aged 12 or under - Primary School
